Need in Rhode Island
Currently seeking Merchandising Analyst to fill a position with a Fortune 4 company in Rhode Island. The ideal candidate will possess 1 to 3 years of experience in a retail organization or in an analytical, merchandising, or buying position. This individual will be responsible for contributing to budgeted sales, gross margin and program management within assigned business.
Responsibilities of the Merchandising Analyst
Contribute directly to sales and margin goals in assigned area
Analyze profit and loss information for the business, develop sales and margin projections, and track performance vs. plan
Analyze relevant data and incorporate findings and recommendations into short and long-term planning (i.e., optimal SKU mix; Extracare loyalty program; promotional programs) for merchandising programs over the next 1 to 3 years
Drive tactical execution of day-to- day plan activities (e.g., new item and supplier set-up, tracks planogram performance and provides post analysis to take corrective action if necessary)
Collaborate with an internal team of Client professionals in Inventory, Pricing, Promotion, Finance, Store Design/Layout and Store Operations
Analyze sales, margin and execution of programs and communicates those results to cross-functional teams to drive improved performance
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of current competitive landscape; search out new competitive opportunities and make recommendations
Facilitate expansion of store format through maintaining and tracking to a project plan, identifying and managing risks and opportunities
Requirements of the Merchandising Analyst
Bachelors Degree
1 to 3 years of experience in a retail organization or in an analytical, merchandising, or buying position
Strong working knowledge of retail math concepts and demonstrated application
Proven ability to implement strategies and use negotiation tactics to grow sales
Technical experience and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; some Access or other database knowledge helpful
Strong written and oral communication skills
Job Type: 40 hours, Contract 6 months with potential for renewal
