On November 24, the renovation project (Phase-I) for energy conservation and emissions reduction of the Beilun power plant under the Zhejiang branch of CHN Energy was officially approved by Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
A rendering of the renovation project
The project plans to build 2x1000MW ultra-supercritical secondary double-reheat clean and high-efficiency generation units as well as environmental protection facilities for high-efficiency desulfurization, denitration, dedusting, etc. and heat supply system. According to the 14th five-year plan for power development at both national and provincial levels, the renovation project has been included in the Three-Year Action Plan of Zhejiang Province for Coordinating Green, Low-Carbon Energy Development and Stabilizing Energy Supply and Prices as a key engineering project. It is estimated to be completed before the summer peak season arrives in 2025. When completed, it will mend the rapidly expanding gap between power supply and demand in eastern China, relieve the pressure on electricity supply in peak periods, and provide great support for guaranteeing medium- and long-term power supply, ensuring safe and stable operation of the power grid, and enhancing the power sector’s peak load regulation capacity.
