July 30, 2021, Beijing /CEC/ - CEC held the Inaugural Meeting on the Electric Power Low Carbon Power Standardization System (hereinafter referred to as "Low Carbon Working Group") on July 30, 2021. Moderated by Pan Li, the Director General of Planning and Development Department of CEC, and the Vice Chairman and the Secretary General of the Low Carbon Working Group. The Meeting attracted ca. 40 delegates from the member companies of the Low Carbon Working Group. Wang Zhixuan, the Chairman of the Low Carbon Working Group, Liu Yongdong, the Deputy Secretary General of CEC and Director of Standardization Management Center and the representatives from National Standardization Management Committee and National Energy Administration attended the Meeting and made the speeches.
Wang Zhixuan mentioned in his speech that under the nation’s goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the Low Carbon Standardization of power industry was particularly important and needed immediately action taken. Wang Zhixuan required the Secretariat to actively communicate with the government, to understand the details of Low-Carbon Standardization, to strengthen the research ability of the Low Carbon Working Group and made the Working Group become a research-oriented platform. Moreover, it was also important to accelerate the international cooperation with overseas organizations in low carbon sectors.
The Meeting deliberated and adopted the four documents of the Low Carbon Working Group, namely:‘Articles of Association of Low Carbon Working Group (Draft)’, the ‘Working Rules of Secretariat of Low Carbon Working Group (Draft)’, the ‘Standard System of Low Carbon Working Group (Draft)’ and the ‘Working Arrangement of Low Carbon Working Group From 2021 to 2022 (draft)’.
Profile of the Low Carbon Working Group
The Working Group of Low-Carbon Standardization System of Power Industry was established on April 28, 2021 with approval of the Standardization Management Center of CEC. The Secretariat of the Low Carbon Working Group was attached to the relevant department of Low-Carbon business of CEC. Members of the Low Carbon Working Group were composed of 28 experts from the State Grid Corporation of China, the China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd, some power generation enterprises, scientific research institutions and universities. The Low Carbon Working Group was mainly responsible for research, management techniques, market transactions, business models and international cooperation on Low-Carbon Standardization System of power industry.
