CTG built-Isimba dam in Uganda selected as model case for CSR

　　The Isimba Hydropower Project, built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) in Uganda, has been selected as a model case for corporate social responsibility by China’s state-owned enterprises in a bluebook compiled by the top state asset regulator.

　　Isimba and its supporting transmission line project, built by China International Water & Electric Corporation (CWE), an affiliate of CTG, was included in the book due to its outstanding corporate social responsibility work, according to the Bluebook of Corporate Social Responsibility of China’s Central Enterprises (2019) in Overseas Markets issued by China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). The book is designed to demonstrate the achievements of Chinese central enterprises in corporate social responsibility in their overseas operations.

　　Located at the southern tip of Uganda and 50 kilometers downstream of Lake Victoria, the world’s second largest freshwater lake, Isimba Hydropower Project is the first major EPC project built by CWE in the country.

　　With a total installed capacity of the 183MW, the project has been put into operation since March 31, 2019. The annual output of the project is 1.039 billion kWh, boosting the country’s annual electricity generation by 20 percent. In addition to effectively alleviating the shortfall of power supply in Uganda, the project also enables the country to export some of its surplus power to neighboring nations.
