Wudongde registers 100 days of stable operation for first 4 geneators

Wudongde hydropower plant, operated by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), achieved a significant milestone on October 21 as its first four power units have been safely running for 100 days since their commissioning, generating 8.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to power the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and other regions.

The hydropower plant is equipped with a total of twelve 850-MW hydroelectric generators. In addition to providing stable power supply, it will replace a massive amount of non-renewable fossil fuels with the green electricity it produces. Upon its full operation in 2021, the plant will save 12.2 million tons of standard coal, reducing emissions of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide by 30.5 million tons and 104,000 tons respectively every year.
