Changlongshan Pumped Storage Power Station commences filling process

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) has continued to advance the construction of the Changlonshan Pumped Storage Power Station this year, commencing the filling process for the power station on February 15.

Following the filling process, which is expected to last 20 days, the power station will begin debugging and testing when in a water-filled state in March or April.

The filling and draining test on the water transmission system is the first safety test to be conducted on the system of water channels, providing quality assurance for the reliable operation of the power plant.

Changlongshan Pumped Storage Power Station has a total installed capacity of 2,100 MW, ranking third in terms of capacity among all pumped storage power plants in China. Once completed, it will undertake the tasks of peak regulation, frequency adjustment and emergency backup for the power grid of East China. The power station is expected to put its first power unit into operation on June 30, 2021.
