CTG powers Beijing Winter Olympics with 10 b kWh green electricity-1

China Three Gorges Corporation announced that its four cascade stations along the Yangtze River has generated a total of record-breaking10.45 billion kWh electricity in February, meeting the rising load demand in served regions due to cold wave as well as production and work resumption following the Spring Festival holiday.

The electricity generated in February by Xiluodu, Xiangjiaba, Three Gorges and Gezhouba, four cascade stations operated by China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd. (CYPC), CTG’s listed arm, was 1.2 billion kWh more than the same period a year earlier.

During this period, CYPC accurately controlled the water level of upstream newly built reservoirs through scientific arrangement of the water-level fluctuation in cascade reservoirs. With coordinated and optimized operations, it scientifically arranged the orderly fluctuation of 6 cascade stations along the main stream of the Yangtze River. Since mid-February, the cascade stations have put 7 more generators into operation, and had up to 82 units running at peak times, with a maximum output of 35 million kilowatts. The operations effectively ensured the power supply for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
