On May 22, Jianbi Power Plant of China Energy Jiangsu Branch joined hands with the Red Cross Society of Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, to launch an “Igniting the Hope of Life” campaign for hematopoietic stem cells collection. Twenty-four volunteers from the power plant joined the China Marrow Donor Program (CMDP).
Since the power plant began mobilizing its CPC members to join the CMDP and established a hematopoietic stem cell donation volunteer team in 2003, six volunteers have successfully donated hematopoietic stem cells, accounting for nearly 10 percent of the total number of successful donors in Zhenjiang City, more than any other units in Jiangsu Province. So far, over 200 volunteers from the power plant have joined the CMDP.
In 2016, Jianbi Power Plant received “Outstanding Contribution Award for Hematopoietic Stem Cell Donation” from the Red Cross Society of Zhenjiang City. In 2017, a number of Chinese mainstream media outlets reported on the exemplary deeds of its volunteer team. In 2018, the power plant was awarded as “Lei Feng-style Advanced Unit in Electric Power Industry.”
