China Energy Foundation Helps Train Village Doctors and Diagnose Children with Congenital Heart Disease in Puge

On September 7 and 8, China Energy Foundation invited three experts from the Institute of Geriatric Cardiology of the Chinese PLA General Hospital to teach and train village doctors in Puge County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. The experts provided training for over 50 village doctors in 34 village hospitals of the county, including a half day of session on the congenital heart disease and practice of diagnosing the disease through auscultation.

Helped by the experts, the trained village doctors screened the disease for over 5,000 students at four primary schools and one kindergarten in Puge County, and found eight patients with the disease. The Chinese PLA General Hospital will prioritize the treatment for these patients, and arrange them to go to Beijing for further medical treatment. All the costs will be covered by the China Energy Foundation.

The trained village doctors noted that in the future, they will conduct regular auscultations and screenings for children in the villages of the county, and use what they learned in the training to ensure physical and mental health of the children in Puge County.
