“Huaneng” Recognized as a Well-known Trademark

On January 5, 2006, the State Administration of Industry and Commerce announced 98 well-known trademarks recognized in the second half of 2005, including the “Huaneng” trademark of China Huaneng Group. The fact that “Huaneng” trademark, as the symbol of Huaneng Group, is recognized as a well-known trademark can step up the contact between the trademark and the designation of the enterprise, further expand the influence of “Huaneng” designation and trademark; intensify the protection of the existing trademark of Huaneng Group; protect it from abusive registration and use; provide important basis and strong help for judicial department in safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of the trademark in infringement cases involving the trademark. Meanwhile, it is also a sign that the ability of Huaneng Group to leverage intellectual property in protecting its own legitimate rights and interests has reached a new high.
