Employees of Huaneng Donating Over 2 Million Yuan to Support Disaster-hit Areas

“Huaneng stresses the need to be politically-minded, takes the overall interests into account and has acted quickly in good implementation,” said gratefully a representative of the National Red Cross upon receiving the donated money of China Huaneng Group on February 4.

Recently, the southern regions of China have suffered a rare disaster of low temperature, sleet and freezing.The members of Huaneng Group acted quickly to donate cash and materials to the stricken areas to help the people there rebuild their homes and resume production. By February 4, the employees of Huaneng had voluntarily donated 2637859 Yuan, which would be transferred to local Red Cross or department of civil affairs. Huaneng Pingliang and Tongchuan Power Plants donated 200 quilts, 120 blankets and 120 tons of snow-melting agent. Huaneng Changxing Power Plant sent its employees to take part in the local activity “10000 people sweeping snow” to thoroughly clear the snow in local areas. The employees of Huaneng Yueyang Power Plant took part in the blood donation campaign organized by the city to help the ice relief efforts.

To help the disaster-stricken areas fight the disaster and resume production as soon as possible, Huaneng Group focused on the supply of coal and safe production and on the prevention of human injury, equipment or shutdown caused by shortage of fuel, thus ensuring the supply of thermal coal, the safe and stable power generation and heat supply and making contributions to the power supply and disaster relief of the stricken areas. Meanwhile, the cadres and employees of Huaneng Group implemented the spirit of the instructions of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, fulfilled their social responsibility and took an active part in the disaster relief, realizing the duty of the employees of a backbone state-owned enterprise.
