Premier Li Keqiang & French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe Witness the Signing of the Statement on CSG-EDF Cooperation

Beijing - Chinese Premier Li Keqiang served as witness to the signing of more than 10 documents for bilateral cooperation with French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, in energy, science and technology, agriculture, medicine and health.

The signing ceremony was held here in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Li Qingkui, Board Chairman of China Southern Power Grid (CSG), together with Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of Électricité de France (EDF), signed a statement of CSG-EDF cooperation in the Hainan-based Boao Le Cheng Smart Grid and Low-Carbon Intelligent Energy Comprehensive Demonstration Zone project.

CSG and EDF plan to jointly invest in the Project as it will bring in world leading smart technologies such as smart substations and smart homes and build a smart grid system integrating varied functions, such as lighting, mobile network, monitoring and electric vehicle charging.

Simultaneously, this project will integrate multiple renewable energy sources to build a low-carbon and environmentally friendly energy system and is expected to be completed (at a preliminary stage) by 2020 with a regional smart grid and low-carbon intelligent energy demonstration base.

By 2025, the project will be fully completed, which will serve as a model and provide experience for Hainan’s endeavors in realizing new urbanization, energy conservation and emission reduction and high-standard environmental protection.
