Renewal of the Framework Agreement for enhancement of Exchange and Cooperation between CSG and EGAT-1

On the morning of March 17, Zhao Jianguo, Board Chairman of CSG met Soonchai Kumnoonsate, Governor of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and both sides renewed the Framework Agreement for the Enhancement of Exchange and Cooperation. Paruhus Vongthanet, Assistant Governor of EGAT, also attended the event. The signing ceremony was hosted by Mr. Wang Liangyou, Vice President of CSG.

It is known that CSG has been keeping a friendly partnership with EGAT. In March 2012, the two sides signed the Framework Agreement for the Enhancement of Exchange and Cooperation in Guangzhou. In June 2013, they signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Power Purchase Program from CSG to EGAT. In recent years, through regular reciprocal visits, senior officials of the two sides set up a joint working group, and carried out close exchanges and cooperation on issues like power planning, renewable energy development, smart power grids and Ultra High Voltage Direct Current (UHVDC) technology. In order to set up a platform for mutual development, both sides decided to renew relevant agreements and actively continue long-term cooperation based on the principle of “mutual-trust, complementation, sharing and win-win development”.

Before the signing ceremony, the two sides held several talks centering on electric power development programs, electrical power technologies and personnel training, the Neighboring Countries Power Industry Summit and future collaboration. Soonchai stated that since the signing of the cooperation agreement, EGAT had benefited a lot in power planning, smart power grids, UHVDC technology and so on. In particular, at the suggestion of CSG, the second GMS Countries’ Power Utility Summit was held, which promoted close cooperation among power companies of neighboring countries. He hoped that both sides could deepen cooperation and benefit each other. Mr. Zhao said both sides had much more to cooperate and learn from each other in developing clean energy, interconnecting electric power, power project cooperation as well as staff exchange and training.

Managers of the System Planning Department and Transmission System Planning Department of EGAT and Directors of the Administration Office, Planning and Development Department, International Cooperation Department, System Operations Department, Marketing Department and Yunnan International Company participated in the above events.
