At the opening of the conference, Stu Bresler, Chairman of APEx and Senior Vice President of PJM Interconnection LLC (PJM) and Alison Andrew, CEO of Transpower New Zealand Limited, delivered the welcome speeches.
During brief sideline moments of the conference, Mr. He had private exchanges with Mr. Bresler and noted that “as the largest power transmission company in North America, PJM is well experienced in market design, operation and management”.
Five panel discussions on renewable energy and efficiency, cross-border coordination, investment based on improvement of market efficiency, market pricing mechanisms as well as discussions regarding power trading were held.
Mr. He said that he hoped to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with PJM and invited Mr. Bresler to come to Guangzhou and pay an official visit to CSG.
Organized by Transpower New Zealand, the conference was attended by more than 30 member companies and 120 representatives from 12 countries and regions, including the United States, Australia and Norway.
Steven Martin, Vice President and Chief Digital Officer of GE Power was also on hand to make a keynote speech.
Mr. Bresler expressed his gratitude for the gracious invitation and expressed his willingness to conduct mutual exchanges and learning with CSG on varied issues.
After the conference, Mr. He and his delegation paid a visit to the headquarters of Wellington-based Transpower New Zealand Limited and held private discussions with Mr. John Clark, General Manager for Operations and Innovation as well as several company directors of Transpower’s System Operator Division on power industry structure, operation and management models and wholesale power market operation mechanism.
Mr. He also visited the Transpower Power Dispatching and Control Center in New Zealand.
APEx was originated by PJM and currently has 45 members. The first APEx Conference was held in Melbourne, Australia in 1996. CSG joined the association as a full member in 2017.
