Guangdong's First Offshore Wind Farm Generates More Than 100 Million kWh of Electricity

Zhuhai - The Guishan offshore wind farm demonstration project located here in Guangdong Province recently received some very good news.

By the end of May of this year, the electricity generation of the wind farm exceeded 100 million kWh, another major milestone in the important progress of this pilot program following the 93-megawatt power production at the end of 2018.

The project, funded by the Southern Offshore Wind Power Joint Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the Southern Power Grid Integrated Energy Co., Ltd., involves the building of the first offshore wind farm placed into operation in Guangdong Province.

The project is expected to have the capacity of generating 120 megawatts and annually provide clean power of 266 million kWh, saving more than 86,000 tons of standard coal and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 206,700 tons.

The 25-year life-span operation of the project is expected to save a total of 2.17 million tons of standard coal, making significant contribution to the green development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and greatly benefiting the society and environment.
