CSG Successfully Hosted the International Football Invitational Tournament

Guangzhou - From 16-17 November，the CSG football Invitational tournament was held in the Olympic Sports Center in Guangzhou. This event is supposed to enhance communications, exchanges and friendship between CSG and its ‘foreign’ partners,pushing forward cooperation and development in electricity sector.It is also helpful to promote CSG’s capabilities of cultural integration and brand image outside the Chinese mainland.After two half-days of competitions, CSG football team won the championship, bringing the tournament to consummation.

CSGI hosted the invitational with 6 football teams participating. In particular, we invited three ‘foreign’ teams-EDL,CLP and CEM football teams-to compete with CSG, Guangdong Power Grid Company and CSGI, which made it an international sports gala.

During the opening ceremony, Mr Lin Tao, Deputy Chairman of CSG’s Union extended our warm greetings to all ‘foreign’ teams. He noted,’ Guangzhou is at the forefront of China’s reform and opening-up, being the southern gateway of maritime silk road and the sole provincial capital in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.Therefore,it brings particular meaningfulness to this tournament taking place in Guangzhou.’He also pointed,’China Southern Power Grid is authorized by the Chinese Government to carry out cooperation in power sector in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. We have committed ourselves to the Belt and Road Initiative,enhancing cooperation with Hong Kong ,Macao and countries in the region.CSG has had strong support from its foreign partners.’ ‘This tournament marks the first sports event jointly organized by CSG and its foreign partners in this region.It serves as a platform for us to learn from each others’ football skills, enhance mutual understandind and exchanges and display sportsmanship and friendship..

Every team had been well organized and prepared for the matches. All athletes play hard and played well, giving the best plays they could ever had. They full demonstrated the true spirits of sportsmanship and audience cheered with passions for them. Thongphet DOUANGNGEUNE made the best of his excellent skills, rich experience and brilliant physical qualities. His interception, dribbling breakthrough, and shooting were fluent and smooth, making him the first scorer in this tournament,this very first goal ignited the audience. His extraordinary plays won him the most valuable player in the end.After several rounds of competitions, CSG and CLP football teams qualified for the final. They made a wonderful match by their clever lineups, accurate long and short passes volley shootings,headings and etc.

CSG finally won the championship, CLP runner-up, CSGI the third place and EDL fourth place. On the closing ceremony, Mr.Wang Fang, chairman of CSG’s union,Mr. Thongphet DOUANGNGEUNE,deputy managing director with EDL, Mr. Zhou Youming, deputy secretary general with CSGI, and Ms. Sun Li, CFO with CSGI presented trophies and medals to our athletes and announced the consummation of this event.

Alongside football games, we had some arrangements for visits and cultural exchanges. This event was supposed to build a bridge of friendship between CSG and its partners, to promote cooperation in power sector and cultural exchanges,to form wider consensus , and to jointly push forward development in electricity sector.Meanwhile, this tournament also promoted people-to-people communications among our partners along the ‘Belt and Road’ and deepened our mutual understanding and friendship. It established solid people and social foundations for regional cooperation.
