Guangzhou – China Southern Power Grid (CSG) (http://eng.csg.cn) is pleased to announce the development of its first virtual synchronous generator (VSG) system - a virtual synchronous power storage device - and has placed it into operation at the customer service center of the Dongguan Power Supply Bureau, Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd.
This marks a significant breakthrough for CSG in the sizable assimilation of new energies and effective utilization of stored power.
This device integrates multiple new technologies through CSG's exclusive independent intellectual property rights, including the power decoupling control based on VSGs and the innovative grid-connected and off-grid control technologies.
With the properties of equivalent moment of inertia and damping of VSGs, the device can effectively resolve the problem of seamless switching between grid-connected and off-grid modes in micro-grid systems, and at the same time, utilize the stored power for peak-off electricity uses, which will significantly improve CSG's power supply security and generate considerable economic benefits.
These technologies will be applied in photovoltaic charging stations of the urban load center in Guangdong Province.
