The first unit of the Isimba Hydropower Station in Uganda went online on the last day of the year 2018, a good start for the coming year.
Through unremitting efforts, the project team spent more than three years to finish the construction of the dam, which provides green electricity to local households, injecting new impetus into the Ugandan society and economy.
Known as the pearl on the White Nile River, the project, undertaken by China International Water & Electric Corporation, has a total installed capacity of 183 MW. Following the success of the first unit being connected to the grid, the project team is now working intensively to debug the remaining three turbines which are scheduled to be put into service in the first quarter of 2019 successively.
