Baihetan Dam: concrete casting starts at the world

Concrete casting began at the world's first million-kilowatt unit spiral case on the left bank of Baihetan Hydropower Station on May 4, marking another solid step towards the goal of scheduled generation of the world’s second-largest hydropower station.

There were many kinds of pre-embedded parts in spiral case concrete, making the process of pouring a challenging task as it needed to keep dense at one corner while also preventing the volute from lifting.

Baihetan project team has set up a 24-hour duty squad on May 1, to ensure the smooth pouring of the first silo volute concrete. After 37 consecutive hours of hard work, the first silo volute concrete pouring successfully completed on May 5 as scheduled.
